Pickerington Dance Academy is owned and operated by Sandy Brownfield.
Sandy has been
dancing for over 40 years. Born and
raised in Columbus, Ohio, she began taking dance lessons at an early age at a
local dance studio. Soon thereafter
she was in competition dance lines competing and performing all over the United
States. She has performed on Cruise ships, a movie, a music video, and half-time shows for
NFL and NBA games.
Sandy was awarded a dance scholarship to Tyler College in Texas where she
furthered her dance education.
While in college, she was captain of the
Apache Belles Dance Team.
The world famous Apache Belles perform all over Texas, the United States
and abroad. While in Texas she also taught dance and gymnastics at the Ballet
Academy. Returning to Ohio, she
continued studying dance at The Ohio State University.
Over the years, Sandy's
choreography has been recognized with numerous awards. She has
choreographed for College and High School musical and dance performances.
Her competition dance teams consistently receive top honors at both the Regional
and National levels. Her expertise and knowledge have given her the
opportunity to Judge dance competitions and auditions.
These days, Sandy keeps her skills up-to-date by attending dance seminars and
Her expertise includes Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Gymnastics, Lyrical,
Cheerleading and Baton. In addition, she has
previously been the
Coach/Advisor of the Pickerington North and Central High School Dance Teams.
Sandy was recently honored by the
NAPEW -- the National Association of Professional & Executive Women -- and made
an exclusive member in their Registry for "Women of Excellence."
